Nadiem Makarim's Firm Promise To Eradicate Sexual Violence In The Education System

JAKARTA - Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim said he would eradicate three sins in the education system, namely sexual violence, bullying and intolerance.

Of the three problems, sexual violence in the educational environment is the first point to be resolved.

"We will start this year until next year by highlighting the issue of the three sins, and we will start with the theme of sexual violence," he said during a working visit at the University of North Sumatra (USU) Campus in Medan, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, October 26.

According to him, sexual violence is currently an epidemic that is often found in the educational environment, especially at the university level.

"This will be one of our struggles to ensure students and lecturers feel safe and free from sexual violence," he said. Efforts to eliminate intolerance, bullying, and sexual violence in the educational environment will be carried out through the Merdeka Learning program.

"In the Merdeka Learning program, one of them will prioritize character education," he said.
