JAKARTA - Head of Satpol PP and Wilayatul Hisbah Aceh Singkil Regency, Ahmad Yani, denied that his members tortured to death a dog named Canon from a tourist location on Pulau Banyak. Satpol PP said Canon died due to stress.

Animal Defender who received this news has flown to Aceh Singkil to get a detailed chronology of the issue of Canon's death. But Animal Defender doesn't believe Canon died from stress.

This group of animal lovers does believe that even dogs can be stressed. But if it is considered that stress can make a dog die in a short time, this is what they do not believe.

"It is impossible for Canon to die in a short time due to stress," Animal Defender representative Doni Herdaru told VOI, Monday, October 25.

Doni joined the Animal Defender team to Aceh Singkil. They will be assisted by the Aceh Singkil branch of GP Ansor to oversee this matter into the legal process.

Doni, who has been involved in thousands of cases of advocating animal abuse, believes that stress will cause a dog to die in the long term.

Doni is more certain that Canon eventually died due to heat or Heat Stroke. His belief refers to the duration of Canon's death which was relatively short after being taken away. Moreover, seeing the footage when Canon was brought by the Aceh Singkil Satpol PP officers was not with the correct SOP.

Quoted from various sources, heat stroke is a condition that occurs when the body temperature of a dog or cat is very high, usually exceeding 41 degrees Celsius. Heat stroke conditions can cause an inflammatory response throughout the dog or cat's body, and trigger the failure of important organs in the body. Therefore, this heat stroke condition can be dangerous for them.

Dogs and cats are prone to heat stroke when the weather is very hot, because their furry bodies don't sweat in the same way humans do. Usually, heat stroke in dogs is caused by being left in a parked car in a place where there is no shade and water.

"This is the most important thing, there must be a death check on Canon. The problem is, the owner doesn't even know where the Canon is buried by the Satpol PP," Doni explained.

"Besides, the Satpol PP does not have education on how to evacuate an animal. Why can't other agencies intervene," he said.

The Head of the Civil Service Police Unit and the Wilayatul Hisbah Aceh Singkil Regency, Ahmad Yani, denied that his party had tortured a dog named Canon which was secured from a tourist location on Pulau Banyak.

"There was no torture carried out by members in the field, the dog is thought to have died due to stress after being secured by members when it was brought to the mainland," said Ahmad Yani.

After coordinating with the resort owner, the officers tried to make arrests using safe and animal-friendly equipment.

Because of the dog's fierce condition, the dog then tried to give resistance when it was about to be arrested by the officers.

Because of this condition, the dog was then persuaded by the owner and then the dog named Canon was put in a basket, to be brought to the mainland in Singkil, the capital city of Aceh Singkil.

“We caught two dogs, so when we arrived at Singkil, one dog was found dead. While another dog is still alive and well," he said.

Ahmad Yani suspects that the dead dog is thought to be stressed and the dog's carcass has been buried after he coordinated with the Aceh Singkil Regional Secretary.
