Good News From East Kalimantan Provincial Government: Orphans Victims Of COVID-19 Who Apply For Scholarships Will Be Given Special Recommendations

JAKARTA - The East Kalimantan Provincial Government, continues to pay attention to orphans affected by COVID-19 in pursuing education by giving priority to recipients of the East Kalimantan Complete Scholarship (BKT).

Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan Hadi Mulyadi emphasized on Sunday that the East Kalimantan Complete Scholarship (BKT) was given to the people of East Kalimantan in need, but also specifically for children whose parents died due to exposure to the corona virus.

"For orphans who are victims of COVID-19 who apply for scholarships, please register, then special recommendations will be given," said Deputy Governor Hadi Mulyadi during the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday and Prayers at the Raudhatul Jannah Cemetery Serayu Tanah Merah, Samarinda, as reported by Antara, Monday, October 25.

According to the former legislator of Karang Paci and Senayan, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government has committed and has not neglected the fate of children whose parents died due to the pandemic.

In addition to scholarships, the Provincial Government also provides care assistance for heirs and orphans and orphans whose parents died from being exposed to the corona virus.

"Alhamdulillah, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government specifically whose parents died from COVID, one child was given Rp2 million in compensation," he continued.

Assistance, he said, had been given in several areas for some time, but it was possible for other children who had not been registered.

"Please report those who have not received compensation. Who knows there are still those who are left behind and have not received assistance. Yes, please report to the local social service," said Hadi Mulyadi.

In addition, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government has adopted a policy of providing assistance for heirs, which the Ministry of Social Affairs had promised of Rp15 million, but was suddenly canceled by the Minister of Social Affairs.

"Initially the Social Service asked for Rp2.5 million due to a lack of budget. I asked for Rp5 million. And it turns out that the Governor has decided to Rp10 million," said Hadi Mulyadi.
