Hope JIS Profits DKI, Gerindra: Don't Be A Burden Like Velodrome

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DKI Regional House of Representatives from the Gerindra faction, Mohamad Taufik, wants the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) to provide financial benefits for the DKI Provincial Government.

This was conveyed after reviewing the construction of the stadium located in North Jakarta, along with several other members of the DKI Regional House of Representatives.

Taufik said he did not want the JIS Stadium to become a financial burden for PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) BUMD, such as the Velodrome Stadium.

"I want to convey to Jakpro as one of the BUMDs that after this is done, then don't be a burden. Don't be a burden like a velodrome. Now the velodrome has no results, Jakpro continues to spend money", said Taufik, Friday, October 22.

It is known that the Jakarta International Velodrome has been renovated since 2016 when Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) was the Governor of DKI. The stadium, which was originally built in 1973, was inaugurated by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan in 2018.

Then, Taufik also asked Jakpro to manage JIS internationally because it was built with a fantastic budget. Because, according to him, this stadium will be the pride of Jakarta because of its splendor.

"We don't want this to be built once the game starts and then like Jakabaring. This must be managed professionally. Jakpro must be more open in managing this stadium because it must be managed by professional people", said Taufik.

For information, the unofficial launch (soft launching) of the stadium will be carried out on December 10, 2021. While the grand launching or inauguration of JIS is scheduled to take place in March 2022.

It is said that JIS will become a FIFA standard stadium, making it the largest in Indonesia, even Southeast Asia. The stadium with a capacity of 82 thousand spectators is also the third-largest stadium in the world.

The technology installed in this stadium includes the lifting of the stadium roof structure with the heaviest weight being lifted simultaneously, the first stadium to use an open-closed roof system, and the first green building stadium with platinum certification.
