East Java Police Raid Pinjol Office In Surabaya, 13 People Arrested

SURABAYA - The East Java Regional Police raided an illegal online loan office (pinjol) on Jalan Raya Satelit Indah BN 8, Sukamanunggal, Surabaya. A total of 13 people who were on duty at the loan officers were arrested.

"In addition to the 13 people, officers also secured some evidence such as sim cards, documents, and laptops", said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Gatot Repli Handoko, confirmed, Friday, October 22.

Gatot did not provide details regarding the raid on the illegal loan office. He only mentioned that the office was named PT Duyung Sakti Indonesia, without a permit or illegal.

Now, the 13 people have been examined by investigators from the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the East Java Police. They were asked for information to explore and further develop the case.

"We are still exploring it, we will release it later", he said.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, appealed to victims of illegal loans not to have to pay. Mahfud's statement was delivered on the YouTube of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Mahfud then asked for illegal lending operations in Indonesia to be stopped immediately.

"Stop holding this illegal loan. To those who have already become victims, don't pay. If they don't pay and are terrorized, report them to the nearest police station", he said.
