Indonesian Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana launched a clean tourism movement (GWB) program in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) to provide comfort for tourists who come to visit.
"This is a collective movement in order to maintain and preserve the cleanliness of tourist destinations," said Menpar Widiyanti Putri during the launch of the GWB 2025 program at Mandalika Central Lombok, Antara, Thursday, April 24.
He said the tourism sector has become the focus of the government in moving the community's economy, so the program is expected to build a clean culture in tourist destinations in Indonesia.
This activity is also a cross-sectoral collaboration to prove a commitment in creating competitive net tourist destinations. This program is implemented in all priority-scale tourist destination locations in Indonesia and in other tourist destinations.
"This program is expected to increase acceleration in Mandalika and regional imagery and can be an example for other regions in Indonesia," he said.
He said tourist visits to NTB in 2024 reached 2.5 million tourists per year. The GWB 2025 program is an initial milestone in realizing clean tourist destinations and tourists feel safe and comfortable.
"The program from the Ministry of Tourism is to improve the quality and competitiveness of Indonesian tourism," he said.
Meanwhile, Expert Staff for Crisis Management of the Ministry of Tourism Fadjar Hutomo said the kick off of this activity had been carried out in several areas such as in Yogyakarta, Labuhan Bajo and other priority-scale tourist destinations.
"This program is part of our efforts to strengthen sustainable tourism destinations in Indonesia," he said.
In addition, the program initiated by the Ministry of Tourism is one of the efforts to improve the quality of tourism services in Indonesia.
"This program is a national movement, so all parties must move together to create clean tourism for the convenience of tourists," he said.
