One Student Positive for COVID-19, Face-to-face Learning at SMPN 10 Sawangan is Temporarily Suspended

DEPOK – The implementation of limited face-to-face learning (PTMT) at SMPN 10 in Sawangan District was temporarily suspended by the Depok City Education Office (Disdik), West Java after the discovery of a positive student for COVID-19.

"We have instructed the implementation of Limited Face-to-Face Learning (PTMT) at SMPN 10 to be temporarily suspended, with a maximum time limit of a week," said Head of the Depok City Education Office (Disdik), Wijayanto in a written statement received in Depok, Wednesday, October 20.

During the one-week stop, teaching and learning activities will be shifted to Learning From Home (BDR) or online until October 25, 2021.

Wijayanto said that his party was moving quickly to eradicate the finding of one positive student for COVID-19 at SMPN 10, Sawangan District.

The handling of the case refers to the Depok Mayor Regulation (Perwal) number 66 of 2021 concerning guidelines for the implementation of limited face-to-face learning (PTMT) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have also carried out antigen tests or PCR swabs for students in one class as well as teachers who interact with these students in class and all teachers, totaling about 92 people. Thank God, all the results were negative," he said.

He said, all of this was due to good coordination and communication between Disdik, the COVID-19 Task Force, SMPN 10, the District, and also the Sawangan Health Center," he explained.

Wijayanto also explained that sterilization has been carried out in the school and classroom environment with disinfectants. This includes coordinating with the COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas) and the Child Protection Agency for Community and Family Empowerment (DPAPMK) to provide assistance regarding the handling provided for the students concerned who are currently in self-isolation.

Wijayanto added, the handling of COVID-19 cases in this school must be careful because this is important to ensure the cause, impact, and accuracy of the solution that will be carried out.

In addition, with the increasing number of citizens' mobility and also the increasing number of community activities, schools and the community must remain optimal to implement good health protocols so that similar things can be anticipated early on and do not happen again.

"But I have told them to stay calm and do not panic," he said.
