Good News From Ministry Of Health, Three Consecutive Days Of Positive COVID-19 Cases Below 1,000

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive COVID-19 cases for today, Sunday, October 17 at 12.00 western Indonesia time with a record addition of 747 cases.

This figure is a record addition of cases under 1,000 in the last three days after on October 16 as many as 997 new cases, and October 15 as many as 915 new cases.

The report also revealed that the daily cure rate increased by 1,086 people and the mortality rate was 19 cases.

In terms of vaccination, it was recorded that 107,503,228 people received the phase I vaccine with a special addition today of 833,258 people.

Then, for the second phase of the vaccine, it is known that it has been distributed to 62,732,568 people with the addition of 565,652 people. Meanwhile, the vaccination target targeted by the government for the current period is 208,265,720 doses.

Recently, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir stated that the government would immediately close the faucet on imports of COVID-19 vaccines and replace them with national products developed by local experts.

According to him, this is part of the nation's independence by optimizing the synergy between various related elements.

"To support national health efforts, SOEs work together with the Minister of Health and also the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to try to find a solution not to import vaccines anymore," he said while speaking at the Capital Market Summit and Expo 2021 forum in the middle of this week.

Instead, Erick will encourage the use of domestic vaccines which are currently being developed by the government.

"We are trying to find a Merah Putih vaccine or a BUMN vaccine," he said.
