SULTENG - After six days of operation, the joint SAR team has yet to find an old man named La Manggalo (60) who was reported missing while fishing since October 9, 2021 in the waters of Batuatas Island, South Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

The head of the Kendari Basarnas Aris Sofingi in a written statement in Kendari, Saturday, October 16, said that the sixth day of the operation to search for victims involved joint personnel from the Baubau SAR Post, Batuatas Poksek, the local community and the families of the victims.

"The search started at 06.30 WITA, but until 17.30 WITA, the joint SAR team temporarily suspended search operations with no results. The search will continue with monitoring and reporting tomorrow morning," he said.

He conveyed that the weather conditions at the time of SAR operations were sunny, wave heights reached 1-2 meters and wind speeds of 2-16 knots. While the tools used are one rubber boat and three local community boats.

The joint Basarnas team conducted a search for the victim by combing around the accident scene (LKK) where the victim was reported missing at sea in Baruatas waters.

The victim was reported to have been out to sea since October 9, 2021 at 21.00 WITA. The habit of the victim returning from the sea at dawn before the morning. However, until the morning La Manggalo never returned.

A search has been carried out by the victim's family and the local community, but the victim has not been found so the incident was reported to the Kendari Basarnas

The victim is a resident of Wacuala Village, Batuatas District, South Buton. The victim reportedly used a blue canoe, went out to sea wearing a yellow shirt. The victim also had a history of stomach pain.
