Batam Zero New Cases Of COVID-19 As Of Today

BATAM - The Batam City COVID-19 Task Force, Riau Islands, recorded zero additional positive COVID-19 cases today.

The data submitted by the Head of the Batam City Communications and Information Service, Azril Apriansyah, stated that there were no residents who were confirmed to be positive for COVID-19. While one person was declared cured and no additional died.

With this, the total number of positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic is 25,811, of which 24,958 people have recovered and 838 have died.

"A total of 15 people are being treated", said the statement from the Task Force, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 15.

Of the 15 people who are still active with COVID-19, only six people are being treated at the hospital, eight others are self-isolating, and one is centrally isolated in a hajj dormitory.

The Task Force recorded a cure rate of 96.69 percent, a death rate of 3.25 percent, and an active case of 0.06 percent.

The spread of COVID-19 is also relatively controllable. All buffer sub-districts are green zones, namely Behindpadang, Bulang, and Galang.

While on the main island, of the nine sub-districts, three of them are green zones, namely Sekupang, Batuampar, and Seibeduk. The other six sub-districts in the yellow zone are Lubukbaja, Bengkong, Nongsa, Batuaji, Sagulung, and Batam Kota.

Meanwhile, the achievement of the first dose of vaccination in Batam reached 84.12 percent of the target population or as many as 763,238 people received the first injection. While the second dose reached 60.97 percent or as many as 553,224 people

Batam Mayor, Muhammad Rudi, stated that although the COVID-19 transmission conditions continued to slop, his party remained vigilant and anticipated the occurrence of a third wave.

He reminded residents to continue to comply with health protocols by wearing masks, washing hands regularly, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and limiting mobility.

"That's the key, implementing health protocols", said Rudi.
