JAKARTA - Former Head of the Drafting of Regulations and Legal Products at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Legal Bureau, Rasamala Aritonang, confirmed that the Liberation Union Party was a serious idea. He is even optimistic that the party will be able to participate in the general election when it is formed later.

"It must be (the target is to participate in the 2024 election and beyond, ed)," said Rasamala to reporters quoted on Friday, October 15.

He believes that his party can participate in political contests, especially since the 2024 election still has two years left. In addition, Rasamala believes that all political parties have the ultimate goal of participating in the general election.

"All parties are formed to participate in the contestation by bringing their programs and ideas and that contestation in democracy is done through elections," he said.

Rasamala is one of 57 KPK employees who were dismissed by the KPK leadership after failing to become a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) due to not passing the National Insight Test Assessment (TWK). He has officially stopped working on the anti-corruption commission since September 30.

Previously, this former KPK employee's desire to form a party was not without reason. Rasamala said that political parties are a strategic vehicle to make changes in the democratic system even though their existence is often criticized by the public.

Even so, the intention to form this party is still in the discussion stage with a number of parties. In addition to discussing with former KPK employees, Rasamala will also exchange views with national figures.

He did not deny that the effort to establish the party would later meet a steep path. However, Rasamala believes that the party he formed will be able to encourage various changes, including an Indonesia that is free from corruption.

"The conditions for establishing a political party are indeed complicated but worth trying. If it can be realized (the United Liberation Party), I believe we can provide even stronger impetus for change, and progress for Indonesia of course requires Indonesia to be free from corruption," he said.

The Liberation Union Party means togetherness and collective strength as a movement to liberate society from the shackles of corruption. Later, the party will have an essential Pancasila ideology, not just a mere jargon.
