GARUT - The Tasikmalaya Police have named a suspect in the case of adulterated liquor which caused five youths from Cigalontang District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java to die from poisoning.
"We have determined this perpetrator as a suspect who played a role in supplying alcohol to the victims", said Tasikmalaya Police, Chief AKBP Rimsyahtono, during a press conference on the determination of the suspect in the adulterated alcohol case, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 13.
He said that the suspect, Debt, 54, a resident of Cigalontang sub-district, brought two liters of alcohol stolen from his place of work as a janitor at a vocational school in Jakarta.
The 96 percent alcoholic liquid, he said, was deliberately brought to his hometown in Cigalontang to be mixed by a friend and then drunk together, mixed with energy supplement drinks and cough medicine.
The police chief said that the suspect at that time consumed the mixed alcohol but not too much, in contrast to the victim who drank more and previously it was known that some had consumed drugs.
"The perpetrators brought this alcohol from the school laboratory where he worked, without the knowledge of the school, and then mixed it with supplement drinks, causing fatalities", he said.

"This perpetrator deliberately brings dangerous goods and gives them to other people, causing death, so he is threatened with a maximum imprisonment of 20 years", he said.
Previously, the suspect along with several youths in his hometown consumed bootleg liquor on Saturday, October 2nd.
