Malang Mayor Pays IDR 25 Million Fine After Convicted Of Violating PPKM Gowes Troupe

MALANG - Mayor of Malang, East Java, Sutiaji, paid a fine of IDR 25 million after being found guilty of violating PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) in a riding group.

Anjar Rudi Admoko, Head of the Execution and Examination Subsidy of the Malang District Attorney's Office, said that the money for the payment of the fine for the Malang Mayor, Sutiaji, was immediately deposited into the regional treasury of the Malang Regency Government.

"We will deposit the payment of the fine to the regional treasury of the Malang Regency Government. It is because of the violation of the regional regulation", said Anjar as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 13.

Anjar explained that on Tuesday, October 12, the Malang District Prosecutor's Office had received the payment of a fine for minor crimes imposed by the judge to the Mayor of Malang for IDR 25 million.

In addition to Sutiaji, he continued, the payment of fines was also made by the Regional Secretary of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, and the Head of General Affairs of the Malang City Government, Arif Tri Sastyawan, amounting to IDR 15 million and IDR 10 million, respectively.

"The fine was paid yesterday, after receiving an excerpt from the Kepanjen District Court's decision for violating the PPKM", he said.

The payment of the fine made the Mayor of Malang Sutiaji and two other officials carry out the decision of the Kepanjen District Court for the PPKM violation that occurred on September 19, 2021, at Kondang Merak Beach, Malang Regency.

All three were judged by the judge to be guilty of violating Article 49 paragraph 4 Jo article 27C, East Java Provincial Regulation Number 2/2020 on Amendment to East Java Provincial Regulation Number 1/2019 concerning the Implementation of Peace, Public Order, and Community Protection.

Previously, the Mayor of Malang together with his entourage on Sunday, September 19, carried out cycling activities from Malang City to Kondang Merak Beach, Malang Regency. The cycling agenda was carried out by the Mayor together with several communities.

At that time, Kondang Merak Beach was still closed to the general public, because it was in the PPKM period. However, the Malang Mayor's group of cyclists finally entered the Kondang Merak Beach area.

Before entering the area, the group was also visited by police officers because Kondang Merak Beach was still not opened. But in the end, the group entered the beach area, and then went viral on several social media.
