DENPASAR - A fake prosecutor with the initials SM (57) from Bandung, West Java, who is suspected of fraud has now been transferred to the Bali High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati). The suspect claimed to be a prosecutor and extorted IDR 256 million from the victims.

"There is also the suspect SM is a person who has used the name of the Indonesian Prosecutor's Office and the name of the leader in the Indonesian Attorney General's Office, namely the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence for his own benefit by obtaining some money from other people", said Head of the Legal Information Section of the Bali High Prosecutor, Luga Harlianto, Wednesday, October 13.

The suspect is a doctor by profession with a master's degree. The fake prosecutor's actions were revealed after the Bali High Court intelligence officer received confirmation about SM claiming to be a prosecutor. Even though SM is not a prosecutor.

From this report, the team scouted SM in Denpasar and made an arrest.

"Furthermore, SM was handed over to the Denpasar Police for investigation and detention by Denpasar Police investigators", he added.

While inaction, the fake prosecutor SM met the victim with the initials LR, who claimed to have a civil law problem.

The perpetrators immediately offered to solve LR's legal problems. To the victim, LR admitted that the prosecutor was from Jakarta while showing a travel certificate with the identity of the Director of Special Crimes for Political Security. Because he believed, the victim handed over a total of IDR 256,510,000

"The suspect SM is not a prosecutor and the travel certificate on behalf of SM is not the product of the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence and was not signed by the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence", said Luga.

Now the fake prosecutor's case file is complete. The suspect was charged with Article 372 of the Criminal Code and or Article 378 of the Criminal Code. Now the files and suspects have been handed over to the public prosecutor.

"Furthermore, the Public Prosecutor will detain SM for the next 20 days at the Denpasar Police Detention Center for further delegating the case to the Denpasar District Court", said Luga.

Luga reminded the public in Bali to increase their vigilance against individuals acting on behalf of the prosecutor's office or the head of the prosecutor's office who ask for money, goods, or any facilities.
