Wants To Be Free From Debt, Women In Garut Arrange 'drama' Of Robbery Of IDR 1.3 Billion, Pretends To Be Traumatized Until Fainting

GARUT - The Garut Police have named two suspects for being involved in engineering a robbery case. The perpetrator convincingly admitted to being a victim of a robbery with a total loss of IDR 1.3 billion.

"When the crime scene investigation found irregularities in the woman's reporting, we finally concluded that there was a fabrication", said Garut Police Chief, AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono, during a press conference in Garut, Antara, Monday, October 11.

The engineering robbery took place on Cisurupan Street, Garut Regency, West Java. IS (31) admitted that she was robbed by a man with the initials MM (39) who took the money and IS's motorcycle.

"After an examination, this perpetrator was found to have lied by pretending to be a victim of a criminal act of theft with violence", he said

The police chief revealed that the suspect was forced to fabricate the crime of robbery because she was caught in a large debt problem. "The goal is to avoid being in debt", said the Chief of Police.

Previously, the suspect made a false report of being a victim of a robbery in the Cisurupan area, Garut, Friday, October 8 evening. The IS suspect who was riding a motorcycle was suddenly overtaken and pointed at by three people who were riding a motorcycle.

The IS suspect admitted that the motorcycle and bag containing more than IDR 1 billion were taken by the robbers and their whereabouts are unknown.

The suspect then pretended to be traumatized by the incident and was taken to the health center for medical treatment. However, the action was successfully revealed as engineering only so as not to be billed for debt.

As a result of their actions, IS and MM had to languish in the Garut Police detention cell to undergo further legal examination and were charged with Article 242 paragraph 1, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code concerning intentionally giving false information on oath with a maximum imprisonment of seven years in prison.
