Member of Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mafirion, strongly condemned the alleged rape of 27 men against a 15-year-old girl in Sampang, East Java. He urged the police to move quickly to arrest the 15 perpetrators who are still at large, as well as ensuring that all perpetrators are prosecuted and sentenced to the heaviest possible punishment.

"This is a human tragedy. A 15-year-old child is allegedly a victim of rape by 27 people. This is an extraordinary crime that hurts humanity and should not be tolerated in any form. All perpetrators must be arrested, tried, and punished as heavily as possible in accordance with applicable laws," said Mafirion in Jakarta, Saturday, July 11.

Mafirion emphasized that the speed of the police in arresting the perpetrators was crucial to the success of law enforcement. He emphasized that the longer the perpetrators are allowed to roam around, the greater the chance they have to escape, eliminate evidence, influence witnesses, or even repeat similar acts against other victims.

"The police must move quickly to narrow the space for perpetrators. Don't let any of them escape legal accountability. The state must show that there is no room for perpetrators of sexual crimes against children," he said.

Based on information circulating, the victim is suspected of having been sexually assaulted since February 2026. The victim was threatened to comply with the perpetrators' wishes, was given alcohol, and then raped in three different locations. So far, the police have arrested 12 suspects, while 15 other perpetrators are still being sought.

Mafirion assessed that this case should not be seen as a common criminal act. Law enforcement agencies need to thoroughly investigate the possibility of organized crime patterns, the involvement of other parties, and the possibility of other victims who have not dared to report.

"Investigate this case to its fullest. Find out if the perpetrators have ever committed sexual crimes against other victims, whether there are parties who have facilitated, and whether there is an element of exploitation or other forms of criminal acts. All possibilities must be investigated so that this crime network can be revealed. Don't stop at just arresting the perpetrators who have been identified," he said again.

In addition to law enforcement, Mafirion asked the LPSK to immediately provide maximum protection to the victim considering that he is still a minor and has the potential to experience prolonged trauma.

"The victim must be restored, both physically and psychologically. He and his family should not have to fight alone against this suffering. The state must be present to provide protection, assistance, and ensure that the legal process runs without intimidation of the victim," he said.

He also asked LPSK to ensure that all victim rights are fulfilled, ranging from physical protection, psychological assistance, medical services, legal assistance, to social recovery.

"The success of handling cases of sexual violence is not only measured by the number of perpetrators who are arrested, but also by the extent to which the state is able to recover the victims and ensure that justice is truly upheld," he concluded.
