The Palace: The Main Criteria For Candidates For TNI Commander-in-Chief, Able To Bring Indonesia To Rise From The Pandemic

JAKARTA - Special staff of the Minister of State Secretariat, Faldo Maldini, asked all parties to wait for the Presidential Letter related to the name of the candidate for TNI commander to replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, who will enter retirement period.

According to him, everything is still in progress because the government is currently focusing on the national agenda to recover from the pandemic.

In line with this, he said, the government is still looking for and considering a candidate for the TNI Commander who can answer the challenges of bringing Indonesia up from the pandemic.

"The criteria for responding to the challenge (rising from the pandemic, ed) are so important, these were previously not the main criteria", said Faldo, Monday, October 11.

Faldo admitted that until now the Presidential Letter regarding the implementation of the fit and proper test had not been sent to the House of Representatives. He also asked the public to be patient, because it is impossible for the position of TNI Commander to be vacant when Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto enters retirement.

"If there are signs, it will be announced immediately, it is impossible to secretly", said Faldo.

Faldo claimed, so far the issue of the candidate for TNI Commander in Chief is still safe while waiting for the schedule for the House of Representatives to convene again after the recess. According to him, there is still time to prepare for the fit and proper test until Commander Hadi retires at the end of November.

"There is still time to find the best officers who want to sacrifice themselves to bring Indonesia back from the pandemic. This is a tough task", said Faldo.

Faldo hopes that the new TNI Commander will be the best soldier from various aspects. The reason, he said, was not only about personal qualifications, but the new TNI Commander also had a series of tough challenges.

"How to work hand in hand with the people to get through the pandemic, personnel development both in terms of human resources quality or career, development of defense equipment, and harmonization of governance in the three dimensions", explained Faldo.

Therefore, he added, the remaining one month will be used to find the best person as commander in chief.

"This is very decisive. We'll just have to wait", said Faldo.
