In Front Of The Judge, Syahrial Explains The Source Of Bribery To KPK Investigators, Starting From The Regional Secretary To Entrepreneurs

JAKARTA - Former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju promised to secure the case of former Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial by communicating with the investigative team.

"Bro Robin said 'it will be communicated with the team later,'" Syahrial said while testifying via video conference from the Medan Class I Detention Center, reported by Antara, Monday, October 11.

Syahrial was a witness for two defendants, namely former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju and advocate Maskur Husain who were charged with receiving a total of Rp11.5 billion from the management of five cases at the KPK. Meanwhile, Robin and Maskur were present at the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor).

Syahrial admitted that he asked Robin for help because he had been questioned by the KPK in 2019.

"Especially after the OTT incident in North Labuhan Batu, I received information that the KPK from North Labuhan Batu would go down to Tanjungbalai City, so I said 'Please help bro, monitor it, don't go to Tanjungbalai'," added Syahrial.

The request was made during a meeting with Robin at the house of former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, in October 2021.

"After 1-2 hours of the meeting, Bro Robin called me 'We have secured it and have been monitoring it'," said Syahrial.

But Syahrial admitted that he did not know which team was handling the case.

"I don't know the team, but 2 days later it was conveyed to me that my request would be assisted by the team. Only then did I discuss with Bro Robin my case how it progressed, whether it went up or not, after that Robin said it would be checked by the development team," explained Syahrial.

To be able to close the case, Syahrial and Robin came to an agreement to give money.

"I conveyed that in order to close the case, finally, the nominal agreed between me and Bro Robin, first at Rp2 billion, I could not, finally, at Rp1.695 billion, which had been transferred," said Syahrial.

The money was sent to a number of accounts including the accounts of Maskur Husain and Syahrial's close person named Rifka Amalia as well as cash payments in Pematang Siantar.

"The source of the money from my late parents was Rp1 billion, then I asked the regional secretary for Bang Robin's needs for Rp500 million, the rest was my money. From the Regional Secretary, it came from the Head of Public Works Department for Rp200 million, the Head of the General Section for Rp60 million, and some from Tanjungbalai businessmen," he added. Syahrial.

"There is a statement 'the above is in need bro'?" asked KPK Public Prosecutor Heradian Salipi.

"Yes, my understanding is the leader," said Syahrial.
