COVID-19 Vaccination In East Java Is Still Minimal, Governor Khofifah: Must Be Encouraged

SIDOARJO - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has pushed for the acceleration of vaccination for the elderly (elderly) following at least city districts that have completed vaccinations for the elderly.

"There are still few elderly people who are vaccinated. Therefore, they must be encouraged and pursued," he said while attending the vaccination of students and the general public as reported by Antara, Saturday, October 9.

He said that he came to the place as the General Chair of Ika Unair who continuously vaccinates in a number of regencies and cities in East Java.

"Especially for agglomeration areas such as Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Gresik, Lamongan, Mojokerto so that they can immediately be included in the level 1 assessment from the Ministry of Home Affairs," he said.

He said contributions from various parties were needed to accelerate vaccination as an effort to grow communal immunity.

"We also thank Al Falah Junior High School for providing a place as a vaccination location. Because vaccination is not only for students but also for local residents," he said.

On that occasion, Sidoarjo Regent Ahmad Muhdlor Ali said that his party is currently trying to meet the vaccination target of 70 percent of the 1.6 million targets.

"Currently, in Sidoarjo, around 66 percent of the first dose and 32 percent of the second dose have been reached and a percentage of zero point for the elderly," he said.

Meanwhile, the organizing committee for the Ika Unair vaccination activity, Dwi Wahyu Indrawati, said that his party would provide around 2,500 doses of vaccine every time we held an activity.

"We have held about eight activities, both for the first and second doses, with 2,500 doses in each location," he said.*
