9 Months Pregnant Woman Allegedly Harassed By Health Personnel, Tambora Health Center Waits For Information From The Health Office

JAKARTA - Tambora Health Center, West Jakarta admitted that it had served pregnant women who were suspected of being victims of verbal abuse from the health workers there.

"Patients have been served well since the beginning until now", said Head of the Tambora Sub-district Health Center, Kristianti, when confirmed in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, October 8.

The health center has served patients by applicable procedures. In fact, Kristianti claims that until now her party still has a good relationship with the patient.

Kristianti denied that a pregnant woman had to bring her husband if she wanted to give birth there. Parties who want to give birth are only required to bring someone to be responsible for administrative requirements.

"So, there must be a companion who is responsible for administration. That's all", she said.

Furthermore, she was reluctant to explain in detail related to the alleged verbal violence case by health workers at the Puskesmas (public health center). She only submitted the case to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office.

Previously, the Head of Health Resources for the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Purwadi, said that his party was currently investigating a viral video of a health worker verbally abusing a pregnant woman.

"Our team is going down to the field to investigate and confirm the facts on the ground", said Purwadi.

Purwadi stated that currently, his party is still waiting for the results of the report from the Health Office.

He admitted that he was concerned about the viral video in the community because if the video was true, it would be an act that was inappropriate as a health worker.

"Obviously we are in the corridor of fostering health workers and will continue to enforce employee discipline", he added.

To note, this case began when a video showing abuse by health workers at a health center in Tambora, West Jakarta went viral on social media.

One of the accounts stated that a health worker threw several unethical words at a pregnant woman who was nine months pregnant and felt like giving birth.
