YOGYAKARTA - The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X asked the district government to accelerate the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination.

"It just depends on how to consolidate its potential because in my opinion there is no problem with the vaccine (supply)," said Sultan at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 7.

Based on data from the DIY Regional Government as of October 6, 2021, vaccination coverage in Yogyakarta City reached 100 percent, Sleman Regency reached 78.71 percent, Kulon Progo reached 74.88 percent. Meanwhile, Gunungkidul and Bantul reached 67.32 percent and 67.38 percent, respectively.

According to Sultan, the existence of the puskesmas as a vaccination center allows the district to carry out vaccinations every day because it has been supported by adequate health workers.

"The TNI and the police support health workers, and so on, and there is already a health center there, so it should be every day (vaccination), actually it is possible," he said.

However, according to the Sultan, if the implementation of vaccination in the district only takes place in the morning until noon at 12.00 WIB, it will be difficult to speed up the completion of the vaccination.

The implementation, according to him, should not refer to the rhythm of the employee's working hours.

"If you want to catch up, yes, at least in the morning until four or five in the afternoon it's just finished. Don't be like the breakfast, lunch, dinner, work hours, it's a hassle," he said.

The Sultan emphasized that the pattern of implementing the vaccination was fully under the authority of the district/city government, while the provincial government only facilitated it.
