MEDAN - The inter-regency/municipal motor vehicle thief syndicate was arrested by the Binjai Police Team. One of the perpetrators was shot in the leg while trying to escape.

Binjai Police Chief, AKBP Ferio Sano Ginting, said the disclosure of this case began with the disappearance of a car on Jenderal Sudirman Street, Tangsi Village, Binjai Kota District.

"There are reports about the loss of a car belonging to a resident. After that, the Criminal Investigation Police immediately moved to the location to conduct a crime scene investigation", said AKBP Ferio, Thursday, October 7.

Then, on October 5, the Binjai Police Criminal Investigation Unit team received information that the Daihatsu Ayla BK1350 RE car had an accident going into a ditch, on Tengku Amir Hamzah Street, North Binjai District.

There is also the identity of the AAP driver alias Agus (31) and RBS alias Bayu (23), residents of Renggas Pulau Street, Medan Marelan District, Medan City.

"After checking at the location, the team found three T keys suspected of being a vehicle for stealing motor vehicles. The suspicious team immediately took the driver to the Resort Police for inspection", he said.

AKBP Ferio said that after being interrogated, the two people who were originally accident victims admitted that they had stolen a car some time ago.

"After the development, it turned out to be true that the perpetrators of AAP alias Agus and RBS alias Bayu together with BWP alias Lilik alias Golik (as chairman), admitted and committed the theft of a unit of a metallic blue Toyota Kijang Krista car BK 1350 RE with a crime scene on Jalan Sudirman, Kelurahan Tangsi, Binjai City District", he said.

Based on the information from the two suspects, the team immediately carried out developments to find the whereabouts of the suspect Golik.

"The Binjai Police Criminal Investigation Unit Team continued to develop further and then received information about the whereabouts of BWP alias Lilik alias Golik who was in the Karang Rejo Versatile Hamlet, Stabat District, Langkat Regency", he said.

AKBP Ferio said that based on this information, Golik was captured by the team. Then, the development team to look for the whereabouts of the evidence that was stolen by this group.

However, while carrying out developments to look for evidence, the suspect Golik resisted trying to escape.

"The suspect BWP alias Lilik alias Golik fought against officers in the field, then the team fired warning shots but they were ignored, so the officers took firm and measured action and hit the suspect's right leg", he said.

The police secured a white Daihatsu Ayla car in the process of this investigation. Meanwhile, the perpetrators were charged with Article 363 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code.
