Video Circulating Prisoners Persecuted In Jember Prison, Victims Accused Of Police Espionage, Perpetrators Moved To Nusakambangan

JEMBER - Circulating videos of the abuse of prisoners in the Class IIA Jember Prison. One prisoner is being bullied, mistreated by other inmates.

The victim in the video appears to be beaten and kicked without resistance. The beating ended after another inmate intervened.

The Acting Head of Jember Class IIA Prison, Sarwito, said the beating took place on September 4. The beatings were carried out in public toilets in the mosque inside the prison. At that time the victim wanted to buy necessities at the prison canteen.

According to Sarwito, the victim was an inmate in the theft case with the initials AM who had only been admitted for 10 days.

"There is still a 14-day environmental introduction period (mapenaling)," he told reporters, Monday, October 4.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator is a convict of a murder case who was sentenced to 17 years in prison with the initials IP.

The prison has examined the inmates who commit abuse. The beating was said to have been carried out because the victim was accused of being a police spy.

"So this case is purely because AM was accused of espionage or spying for the police when he was outside," he said.

This case was then reported to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of East Java and the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen PAS) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

As a result, IP and the video recorder with the initials SA were transferred to the prison in Nusakambangan.

"Moved to the Karanganyar Prison on Nusakambangan Island. This is a prison for high-risk prisoners," he said.
