Police Hunt For Spreading Issues Behind Yahukimo Papua Riots

JAKARTA - The National Police are still hunting for the issuers who are said to be the cause of clashes between the two tribes in Yahukimo, Papua. Dozens of witnesses have been examined.

"It is being investigated (spreading the issue)", said Head of Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Monday, October 4.

The results of the temporary investigation have not led to the spread of the issue. But it is known the tribe that carried out the attack.

"Now the groups that carried out the attack have been identified by the Papua Police and are working on this case", said Rusdi.

In addition, in the process of disclosing the case, the Papuan Police have examined 56 witnesses. Soon, the police called Rusdi will determine the suspect.

"There are still around 56 people who are being asked for information. We'll just have to wait for news from the Papuan Police on how many people have been named suspects in the attack case", said Rusdi.

As previously reported, an attack on one of the tribes in Papua broke out on Sunday, October 3.

The Yali people were attacked by the Kimyal Tribe using arrows and machetes. The attack was led by the head of the Kimyal tribe, Morome Keya Busup.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, said that the Kimyal troops came to Yali using 2 minibusses. In the attack 6 people died, 41 were injured.

"The injured are still receiving medical treatment at Yahukimo Hospital", said Kamal.
