JAKARTA - Deputy Mayor of Depok, Imam Budi Hartono invites the public to sort waste directly from home. Residents can take advantage of the existing waste bank in their environment.

"I hope all Depok residents can sort out household waste. In order to reduce the amount of waste that goes to the Cipayung TPA," he said during a community service activity at Mutiara Depok Housing Complex, Sukmajaya, Saturday, October 2.

Imam said, the waste that goes to the Cipayung TPA is around 1,000 tons per day. As much as 40 percent of it is inorganic waste, and 60 percent is organic.

"Organic waste can be used as fertilizer, maggot, and eco enzymes. Meanwhile, non-organic waste is recycled into goods that have use-value," he said.

He hopes that every neighborhood in Depok City has a waste bank. This is to support residents in sorting their household waste.

"By sorting waste at the neighborhood level, the target of Depok city to become zero waste will be achieved in 2025," he concluded
