57 Former KPK Employees Labeled 'Red', Police Confirm Novel Baswedan Et Al Have A Future

JAKARTA - The National Police said that they would not have polemics about the 57 former members of the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) who would be recruited even though they were labeled 'red' or the Taliban because they could not be trained. The former KPK employee, called the National Police, still has hope and a future.

"Of course we are wiser to look ahead, we all still have a future, hope, of course, we both fill this future with good things", said Head of Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of Police, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Friday, October 1.

The National Police, on the orders of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, continued, Rusdi will open the door as wide as possible for them if they want to join the Bhayangkara Corps. Their presence is considered to be able to assist the tasks of the Police.

"The Indonesian National Police has invited us to open the door as wide as possible to our fellow former KPK employees so that we can devote ourselves to the National Police together and to devote ourselves to the country we both love", said Rusdi.

However, Rusdi did not specify the extent of the recruitment process. He only emphasized that the Assistant to the National Police Chief for Human Resources for the Police would coordinate with the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPAN-RB) and the National Civil Service Agency (BKN).

"What is clear is that Assistant to the National Police Chief for Human Resources was ordered by the National Police Chief to communicate and coordinate with related ministries or institutions. The order was like that", said Rusdi.

National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, previously stated that he would recruit 57 KPK employees who were fired because they did not pass the National Insight Test (TWK). They will be used as State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in Bhayangkara Corps.

In the recruitment effort, the National Police Chief has written to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The letter relates to a request for permission regarding the recruitment of KPK employees who will be fired on September 30.

In response to this, President Jokowi through the Minister of State Secretary granted the request for recruitment.

The National Police Chief also stated the reasons behind the recruitment. One of them, the Police need human resources to strengthen the line of action against corruption cases. Moreover, the National Police is currently also focusing on handling the COVID-19 recovery.
