JAKARTA - Head of the Human Resources, Advocacy, Law, Research and Development Division of the Judicial Commission, Binziad Kadafi, invites all law enforcement officers and the community in Central Java to work together to prevent acts of humiliating the honor and dignity of judges.
Based on a written statement from the Judicial Commission quoted in Jakarta, Friday, Kadafi thinks that acts of humiliating the honor of judges are still common, such as shootings using long-barreled air guns by perpetrators in the case of distribution of assets in the Sragen Religious Court, destruction of court facilities at the Muara Mulian District Court, and various forms of security threats against other judges.
"This action is a form of demeaning the honor and dignity of the judge", said Kadafi, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 1.
He said that judges have a central position and great authority. For that, Judicial Commission must guarantee its independence.
However, in balance with this independence, Judicial Commission must also guarantee various other principles, such as transparency, judicial control, and freedom of expression. In addition, in carrying out judges' advocacy, what Judicial Commission protects is not physical things, such as court buildings, but justice.

Furthermore, Kadafi explained, throughout 2019 to April 2021 period, the Judicial Commission handled 19 reports or information that were deemed to be degrading to the honor and dignity of judges. Judicial Commission's efforts, continued Kadafi, involve coordinating with the local police to create a sense of security in the court.
"All law enforcement and judicial officers, starting from advocates, prosecutors, police, judges, and court institutions have an important role. In fact, advocates can provide education to their clients to take legal remedies rather than acting anarchically which is increasingly detrimental to him", Kadafi explained.
The Head of the Human Resources, Advocacy, Legal, Research and Development Division of Judicial Commission appealed to judges to carry out the procedural law and the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for Judges (KEPPH).
"By carrying out the procedural law and KEPPH properly and appropriately, judges can produce good decisions to create a conducive situation, in the sense of resolving conflicts in the community", said Kadafi.
