COVID-19 Survivors Can Now Be Vaccinated After A Month Of Recovery

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health is now allowing survivors or people who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 to take vaccinations after one month of being declared cured. Previously, COVID-19 survivors had to wait three months before being vaccinated.

This provision is contained in the Circular (SE) of Plt. Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P), Ministry of Health number HK.02.01/I/2524/2021 regarding COVID-19 Vaccination for Survivors.

In the SE, Plt. The Director General of P2P at the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, said that a one month interval of vaccination could be given to COVID-19 survivors with certain severity conditions.

"Survivors with mild to moderate disease severity are vaccinated with a minimum interval of 1 month after being declared cured," wrote Maxi in SE, quoted on Thursday, September 30.

Meanwhile, for survivors with severe disease severity, vaccination is given at a minimum interval of 3 months after being declared cured.

In a separate statement, Maxi said that changes to these provisions were made based on scientific and medical aspects that are dynamic and continue to follow developments.

"Data related to the efficacy and safety of vaccines are also continuously explored and refined by experts, one of which is regarding the provision of vaccinations for COVID-19 survivors," said Maxi.

Based on the latest data, the National Immunization Expert Advisory Committee, or ITAGI through letter number 98/ITAGI/Adm/IX/2021 dated 20 September 2021, has issued the latest study and recommendations regarding the provision of COVID-19 vaccination for COVID-19 survivors.

Thus, survivors with mild to moderate disease severity have been determined, vaccinations are given at a minimum interval of 1 month after being declared cured.

Meanwhile, for survivors with severe disease severity, vaccination is given at a minimum interval of 3 months after being declared cured.
