There Is A Potential For Hail, North Sulawesi People Are Asked To Be Vigilant

MANADO - The Coordinator for Observation and Information at the Sam Ratulangi Meteorological Station, Manado, Ben Molle, hopes that the people of North Sulawesi will be aware of hail that has the potential to occur during the transition season.

"This potential (hail) could occur entering the transition to the rainy season in October, apart from that there are other potentials to watch out for, such as extreme rainfall and tornadoes," said Ben in Manado, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, September 29.

In the Province of North Sulawesi, the potential for hail may occur the same as in the Kakas area, Minahasa Regency, some time ago.

Such conditions occur when cloud growth increases significantly and environmental conditions are very cold.

"The impact can be damaging, such as a house collapsing if the support poles are not strong, as well as damaging other facilities. It takes vigilance, and most importantly do not do activities outside the house," he said.

When chunks of ice are released from the clouds, he said, they are large but shrink when affected by the atmosphere.

In this transitional season, he continued, extreme weather conditions changed very quickly, from sunny to bad with a short duration, with moderate to heavy rainfall.

"Those are conditions that can occur when entering the rainy season, the weather changes quickly. BMKG hopes that people remain vigilant and can choose safer places where extreme weather can occur," he said.
