Denpasar District Court Judge Sentenced Drug Courier To 14 Years In Prison

DENPASAR - The Denpasar District Court (PN) has sentenced the defendant Hendra Prastia Febri Jalani as a narcotics courier in Bali with a sentence of 14 years in prison.

"The trial, sentenced the defendant Hendra Prastia Febri Jalani to a prison sentence of 14 years and a fine of IDR 2 billion, subsidiary to three months in prison," said the panel of judges chaired by I Putu Suyoga in a hearing at the Denpasar District Court, Tuesday, September 28.

The panel of judges confirmed that the defendant was proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing a crime without rights or against the law of accepting, intermediary in buying and selling, or delivering Narcotics Category I. The defendant's actions were proven to violate Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics according to the First Indictment of the Public Prosecutor.

There was also evidence that was found from the defendant, namely the total weight of methamphetamine-type narcotics weighing 149.2 grams net and 222 ecstasy narcotics with a total weight of 90.82 grams net.

The defendant, who was accompanied by a lawyer from the Denpasar Posbakum, Ni Wayan Pipit Prabhawanty, stated that he accepted. The same response from the public prosecutor also accepted the verdict.

Previously, it was explained on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, that investigators from the Denpasar Police Narcotics Unit received information that the defendant was on Jalan Batu Paras, Gang Baladewa No. 7 Banjar Batu Paras, Padang Sambian Kaja Village, North Denpasar District, Denpasar City often distribute drugs.

At 21.00 p.m. local time, the defendant was immediately arrested by the police. The results of the interrogation and examination of the defendant's cellphone found evidence of a conversation on the telegram application with his boss named OM (people search list/DPO) about drug transactions.

All of the narcotics evidence belonged to his boss named OM, and the defendant only served as a courier or intermediary for the sale and purchase of narcotics between OM and the buyer.

In addition, the defendant received a salary of IDR 50.000 for each time he placed or stuck the drugs in a location determined by the OM.
