DPR Leadership Is Still Waiting For Azis Syamsuddin's Replacement Letter From Golkar Party

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that the DPR leadership had not yet received a letter to replace Azis Syamsuddin in the position of Deputy Speaker of the DPR from the Golkar Party after being named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"Until today, we have not received any incoming letters," said Dasco at the DPR building, Monday, September 27

The leadership, he said, was still waiting for the ongoing process at the Golkar Party, including the outcome of its decision.

"Let it proceed according to the existing mechanism in the Golkar Party, we in the DPR are just waiting for the results of the Golkar Party's internal mechanism," said Dasco.

The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party said there was no time limit for submitting Azis' replacement at the leadership of the DPR. However, Dasco explained that in order to carry out the functions and duties of the DPR leadership, there would be an Acting Officer who would replace Azis Syamsuddin.

“There is no deadline. That's why in the mechanism that is in the leadership because there is no deadline, so we make a contingency plan to give the acting officer position to one of the leaders of the DPR to carry out his duties," he said.

Dasco ensured that this would not interfere with the performance of the DPR leadership, especially in making decisions.

"Because if you don't, you can miss the task at hand," said Dasco.
