The House Of Representatives Will Monitor PTM After The Emergence Of The COVID-19 Cluster In Schools

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives (DPR) leadership will monitor the implementation of face-to-face learning (PTM) after the occurrence of the COVID-19 cluster in a number of schools.

"We, the DPR will monitor it," said DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the DPR, Friday, September 24.

It is known, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) recorded 1.303 schools became COVID-19 clusters on a national scale during the implementation of limited face-to-face learning (PTM).

The Coordinator of the House of Representatives' COVID-19 Countermeasures Task Force admitted that he was concerned about the existence of school clusters even though they had implemented health protocols.

"We are concerned that there will be a new cluster of face-to-face activities in schools, even though most schools have stated that they are carrying out strict procedures," said Dasco.

Due to the emergence of the new cluster of COVID-19 transmission, Dasco appealed to all schools to pay more attention to health protocols.

"To parents, we hope that this will be a consideration whether we allow it or not, we leave it to the parents," said the Gerindra Party politician.

Previously, Minister of Education and Technology, Nadiem Makarim, said that face-to-face schooling would not be stopped.

He explained that only schools that were part of the COVID-19 cluster that were closed until they were safe for PTM were limited.

"No, (discontinued). Limited PTM is still continuing, progress must be strengthened and schools where there is such a situation must be closed immediately until it is safe," Nadiem said at the DPR, Thursday, September 23.

"We continue to monitor that, that's the findings. It doesn't mean that the PTM will be postponed, it still has to be open, but each school if there is a cluster case, it must be closed immediately, that's how it is," continued Nadiem.
