Golkar Confirms Azis Syamsuddin Sends A Letter To KPK Asking For Postponement

JAKARTA - The head of the Legal Advocacy and Human Rights Agency of the Golkar Party, Supriansa, confirmed the request for a postponement of the examination from the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian People's Representative Council (DPR), Azis Syamsuddin, to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) which was originally scheduled for today.

"I saw the letter," Supriansa told VOI, Friday, September 24.

However, the member of Commission III of the DPR did not answer when asked about Azis Syamsuddin's current condition. It is known that the deputy chairman of the Golkar Party is currently in self-isolation (isoman) due to his contact with a COVID-19 patient.

Previously, it was reported that the Deputy Speaker of the DPR and the deputy head of the Golkar Party, Azis Syamsuddin, could not attend the examination agenda related to the alleged corruption case of giving gifts or promises related to the handling of cases in Central Lampung Regency, Friday, September 24.

Based on a letter received by the editor through a message application, Azis admitted that he was undergoing self-isolation and asked to be examined on October 4.

"With regard to the summons to the KPK No. SPGL/4507/DIK.01.00/23/09/2021 dated September 15, 2021, in which I was asked to appear before the KPK investigators on Friday, September 24, 2021, for a hearing, I hereby intend to convey The request for postponement of the examination becomes October 4, 2021," the letter said.

The Golkar Party politician admitted that he was currently in self-isolation because he had interacted with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

"I did this to comply with the government's recommendation to do isoman when interacting with people who tested positive for COVID-19 and also to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 chain," Azis wrote.

The letter written by Azis was dated September 23, 2021, and was addressed to the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) up to the Director of Investigation of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto.
