Thanks To Spreading Posters To Jokowi, These Farmers Are Called To The Palace To Submit Complaints

JAKARTA - Suroto did not expect when he received a call to come to the State Palace to meet President Joko Widodo.

Suroto, a chicken farmer, was summoned after acting to unfurl a poster when Jokowi made a working visit on Moh. Hatta Street, Blitar, East Java on Tuesday, September 7.

“Yesterday morning, 8 o'clock in the morning, so suddenly, we don't know, we were shocked. This must be a lie, this must be a lie. Yes, it's true (invited)", said Suroto at the State Palace, seen on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube video, Wednesday, September 15.

In the meeting, Suroto became one of the breeders in the representatives of Poultry Personnel and Layer Chicken Breeders. There, Suroto explained his intention to unfurl a poster that reads "Mr. Jokowi Help Farmers Buy Corn at Reasonable Prices, Cheap Eggs".

So far, said Suroto, farmers through associations and cooperatives have tried to find a solution to a number of government institutions in the region to the Ministry of Agriculture.

However, these meetings did not produce a solution for the farmers who were in these difficult conditions.

"While we are stuck in a position. It's been an effort, it can't work, we just produce eggs for example 100 percent, it's still a loss, while the eggs can't come out piled up in the cage warehouse", he explained.

Until finally, Suroto took the initiative to unfurl the poster so that Jokowi could hear and see firsthand what the farmers were experiencing.

After this meeting, Suroto believes that Jokowi can help solve the problems that have long been faced by farmers, namely the price of corn which tends to rise and the price of eggs is very low.

"I believe that the only Indonesian at this time who can help farmers, is only Mr. Jokowi", said Suroto.

Continuing, Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi said Jokowi had instructed to immediately find the best solution for the poultry sector in the country.

"Hopefully in the not too distant future the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture will make a breakthrough that can balance the poultry sector", said Lutfi.
