Failed To Reach Target, Vaccination In East Java Is Only 18 Million Out Of 31 Million People

SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa failed to achieve the target of 80 percent herd immunity for East Java residents in August. Even now, the achievement of vaccination has only reached 18 million people out of 31 million total vaccination targets in East Java.

"But the total number of achievements of the first and second doses of vaccination has reached 18,056,737 doses," said Khofifah in Surabaya, Tuesday, September 14.

Based on data from the assessment of the COVID-19 situation by the Ministry of Health, the achievement of the first and second doses of vaccination in East Java totaled 18 million. That number consists of the first dose of 11,679,097 people, and the second dose of 6,377,640 people.

However, Khofifah did not explain in detail the cause of the lack of vaccination achievements in East Java, although previously the herd immunity of East Java residents was targeted in August. However, Khofifah is grateful that the total number of vaccinations in East Java has reached 18 million people.

According to Khofifah, this achievement is in line with the steps taken by the East Java Provincial Government together with the East Java Forkopimda, and all parties in accelerating the implementation of vaccinations in East Java.

"This vaccination requires strong cooperation across sectors and all parties, including involving the pentahelix approach in it. Because realizing herd immunity is a shared responsibility," he said.

Khofifah reminded the public not to slack off, and to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols (prokes). Start wearing masks, maintaining a safe distance, avoiding crowds, and washing hands with soap and running water.

"We should be grateful for conditions like this at this time. Moreover, East Java is free from the red zone and is free from level four, and we continue to intensify vaccinations. But don't let your guard down, keep your guard up so we can get out of this pandemic soon," he said.

Until now, there are a total of six regions in East Java with level one status, namely Lamongan, Jember, Pasuruan, Gresik, Sidoarjo, and Banyuwangi Regencies. Meanwhile, at level two, there are 19 regencies/cities, namely Tuban, Sumenep, Situbondo, Sampang, Probolinggo, Pamekasan, Ngawi, Nganjuk, Malang, Madiun, Surabaya, Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Kediri, Batu, Kab. Kediri, Jombang, Bojonegoro and Bangkalan.

Meanwhile, for level three, there was a decrease from 16 to 13 districts/cities in East Java. Namely the District. Tulungagung, Trenggalek, Ponorogo, Pacitan, Mojokerto, Magetan, Lumajang, Mojokerto City, Malang City, Madiun City, Blitar City, Kab. Bondowoso, and Blitar.
