Fire Scorches 24 Kiosks At Baso Agam Market, Losses Reaches IDR 2.5 Billion

JAKARTA - The Civil Service Police (Satpol PP) and Fire Department of Agam Regency, West Sumatra stated that the fire damage which scorched 24 Blog G kiosks in Baso Market was estimated at IDR 2.5 billion.

"We got this data from kiosk owners in the field. There were no fatalities in the fire", said Head of the Agam District Fire and Rescue Satpol PP, Kurniawan Syahputra in Lubukbasung, Antara, Tuesday, September 14.

The unfortunate incident took place this morning at around 2:30 a.m. Officers deployed 3 units of fire engines to tame the fire. The fire suppression was also assisted by one unit of Bukittinggi City Fire Department, one unit of Padang Panjang, one unit of Payakumbuh, and one unit of Limapuluh Kota Regency.

"With full power the fire can be extinguished at 04.30 a.m. The fire can be extinguished for two hours. There are no problems with extinguishing the fire, there are plenty of water sources and there is no traffic access to the location", he said.

He appealed to shop owners, kiosks, and stalls to repair old electrical installation networks and not to use too many electrical plugs that pose a risk of short circuits. In addition, extinguish the fire before leaving the house, keep the fire away from sources of fire and others.

"If there is a short circuit, immediately report it to the Agam Satpol PP Fire Department (Damkar). If there is a report, we will dispatch personnel and fire engines", he said.

Residents are also asked not to install embankments or speed bumps along the main road, because it interferes with the fleet's access to the scene, considering that the water in the car is quite heavy.

"Fire trucks have difficulty getting to the location with the embankment", he said.
