Police Name BNI Employee As Suspect Of Embezzlement Of Customer Funds Worth IDR 45 Billion

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters has named a BNI employee with the initials MBS as a suspect in a suspected criminal case of embezzling customer money amounting to IDR 45 billion. MBS is currently being held for the next 20 days for questioning.

BNI's attorney, Ronny LD Janis, expressed his appreciation for the quick work of the National Police-Criminal Investigation Team (Bareskrim) to uncover the case and arrest the perpetrator with the initials MBS.

Until now, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police is conducting an examination of other parties suspected of receiving funds from the criminal incident.

"This includes research on transactions in the accounts of recipients of funds. The goal is to make light of this criminal incident", said Ronny in Jakarta, Monday, September 13.

Ronny explained that MBS's embezzlement began when the attorney for the victim, Syamsul Kamar, stated that IDR 45 billion of his client's money was lost when it was placed in the Makassar branch of BNI.

"Regarding Andi Idris Manggabarani's deposit slip, at that time three BNI KC Makassar deposit slips totaling IDR 40 billion dated March 1, 2021", he said.

Ronny still explained, in revealing the alleged forgery of deposit slips at the Makassar Branch Office, BNI management took the initiative to report the incident to the National Police-Criminal Investigation Unit on April 1, 2021, so that the perpetrators could be immediately arrested.

"Based on our client's investigation, the deposit slip was never issued by the Makassar Branch Office. And, it was not recorded in our client's system at all and there was also no customer deposit of funds for opening the deposit.

"Based on the evidence and facts, it is strongly suspected that the deposit was fake", he concluded.
