Bali Deputy Governor Cok Ace Responds To Viral Female MCs Banned From Appearing At Wayan Koster's Event

DENPASAR - Deputy Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati (Cok Ace) responded to the viral response of a female MC who was prohibited from appearing on stage if there was an event attended by the Governor of Bali Wayan Koster.

"I don't follow that," said Deputy Governor Cok Ace when met at the Bali DPRD building, Monday, September 13

When asked about whether or not a female MC should not appear, Cok Ace talked about protocol.

"If it's (such a protocol) normal and there's no problem," he said.

The post of a woman who works as a master of ceremonies (MC) in Bali has gone viral on social media. The post was first uploaded by Putu Dessy Fridayanthi on her personal Instagram, namely @ecymcbali.

In her post, she wrote about her complaint and also protested because she was reportedly prohibited from appearing physically at an event attended by the Governor of Bali Wayan Koster.

"Since the leadership of @kostergubernurbali, it's no secret that we female event workers, MCs, singers, dancers, etc., are often canceled by the client/EO of the H-1 event or even a few minutes before the event starts. The reason is because Koster will be there, so there should be no female performers," she wrote in the post.

Dessy said the upload on her Instagram story was based on experiences she had experienced repeatedly. Most recently she admitted to being barred from appearing in front of Koster at a ministry event on Friday, September 3.

"The one who organizes the private sector but supports one of the ministry's programs so that the minister is there to inaugurate and the Governor is only accompanying him," Dessy said, confirming the post to reporters.
