JAKARTA - John Barrasso, 72, may have a unique record that is difficult for others to match, always attending the inauguration of the President of the United States since 1961.

Yes, Senator Barrasso attended the inauguration of the US President when the late John F. Kennedy was sworn in, watching a speech as a child in 1961.

From the Senate office of the Republican Whip inside the US Congress Building, Senator John Barrasso from Wyoming was able to see where he witnessed John F. Kennedy's inauguration speech.

"I could stand there and look to the east side of the Capitol, because at that time they made their inauguration on the east side of the Capitol. Only after Ronald Reagan became president, they moved him on the other side, the west side," Barrasso told CNN during preparations for the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, as quoted January 20.

Kennedy's inauguration was Barrasso's first inauguration at the age of eight with his father, a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge nutmeg, World War II.

Since then, he has attended every inauguration of the President of Uncle Sam's Country on January 20 in Washington, DC

"That's something we do as a family," Barrasso said.

The senator from Wyoming noted a technical feature in his notes: the second inauguration of Reagan in 1985, which was moved indoors due to very cold temperatures.

Furthermore, the first inauguration he attended as a senator was the inauguration of Barack Obama in 2009.

Interestingly, Barrasso said he continued the tradition of inauguration of his family with his sons and daughters over the years.

"I started inviting them when they were four and six," Barrasso said.

"This is the history of this country and the importance of peaceful transfer of power," he said.
