Chicken Farmers Convey Aspirations To Jokowi, La Nyalla Asks Officials Not To Be Repressive

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesia House of Representatives, AA La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, assessed that the arrest of a man in Blitar, East Java, due to unfurling posters when President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) convoy passed on Moh Hatta Blitar Street, Tuesday 7 September, was too excessive.

Moreover, the aspiration conveyed by the man is an urgent problem faced by laying hens, who have contributed to moving the national economy through the provision of good food for the community. "The complaints submitted by farmers are about the problem of soaring corn prices, causing losses because sales of chicken eggs tend to continue to decline", said La Nyalla.

The senator from East Java reminded the government to avoid being arrogant. According to him, the action of conveying the aspirations of the people who are prohibited and arrested but not given a solution will be a time bomb if the government often acts harshly on people who want to submit their complaints. "The farmer's actions just wanted the President to respond that the price of corn is very high and cannot be bought. He only expressed his aspirations, nothing more", said La Nyalla.

Regardless of the incident, La Nyalla assessed that the aspirations expressed by the laying hens were very urgent to be followed up.

La Nyalla asked the Jokowi government to respond to this problem by taking strategic steps and stabilizing corn prices. "The government must be present for the people. There should not be a price imbalance. When one commodity soars, then the other loses. It is the government's job to stabilize commodity prices so that the economic system runs normally", said La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti.
