PDIP: Is Yasonna Resigning The Prison Problem Is Solved?

JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna H. Laoly was asked to resign following the fire incident at the Class I Penitentiary (Lapas) in Tangerang, Banten on Wednesday, September 6, early in the morning. This incident left 44 people dead.

In response to this, the Chairman of the PDIP DPP, Ahmad Basarah, asked all parties not to make this disaster a political issue. According to him, the prison fire is a non-natural disaster. ''This disaster should not be made a political issue by certain parties by asking the Minister of Law and Human Rights to resign. Will the Minister of Law and Human Rights resign, will all problems in the prison environment that have dragged on since decades ago be resolved?,'' said Basarah, Friday, September 10.

Agreeing with Yasonna's statement, the head of the PDIP faction said that the burning building was indeed old.
