JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) Alphonzus Widjaja admitted that the purchasing power of the lower middle class has occurred since 2024.
This was conveyed by Alphonzus in front of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Trade (Mendag) Budi Santoso, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana and a number of other stakeholders.
"Indeed, the purchasing power of the lower middle class has yet to recover. That's the case again, because it has actually happened since 2024," said Alphonzus in his remarks at the 2025 Eid Discount BINA Opening Ceremony event in Jakarta, Friday, March 14.
Alphonzus assessed that the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in 2025 could actually be the peak of sales for the retail sector. However, he said, his party still had to make maximum efforts to boost people's purchasing power.
"We know that Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are the peak of retail sales in Indonesia. But specifically this year we encourage again, don't let it go down (people's purchasing power) like that," he said.
He hopes that the 2025 Indonesian Shopping Program (BINA) can boost sales this year, especially during the momentum of Ramadan 2025.
"That's why we encourage this BINA Program. Then it is also hoped that the peak sales will occur this week," he said.

According to Alphonzus, the company's accelerated THR will be able to boost retail sales.
"That's why it was implemented (BINA Program) on the 14th, because several companies have also disbursed their THRs. So, it is hoped that starting tomorrow there will be a peak sales until next week," he concluded.
