Government Responsible For Burial Of Convicts Killed In Class I Prison Fires In Tangerang

JAKARTA – The Ministry of Law and Human Rights bears the entire cost of rehab to funerals for prisoners who died. This was conveyed by the Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna Laoly, when handing over overcompensation to the heirs of prisoners who died while being treated at the Tangerang District Hospital, Banten.

"We handed overcompensation from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to the heirs of the prisoners who died in treatment today", said Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna Laoly, in a press statement at the Tangerang district hospital on Thursday, September 9.

Yasonna Laoly said the Ministry of Law and Human Rights bears the entire cost of rehab to funerals for prisoners who died. Because the family is currently in the Tangerang district hospital, the funeral process will be carried out soon.

This is different from prisoners who died in fire incidents because they had to go through an antemortem examination.

"Because the family is already there, we will coordinate the process of curing and burial immediately", he said.

It should be noted that the number of fire victims in the Class I prison in Tangerang has increased by three people, bringing the total number of deaths to 44 people.
