Government Extends PPKM Java-Bali Until September 13

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has extended the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) on the islands of Java-Bali. PPKM Java-Bali extended from 7 to 13 September 2021.

This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. He said several regions experienced a decline in the PPKM assessment level.

"The development situation of COVID-19 in Java-Bali continues to experience significant improvements. This is indicated by the number of cities/districts at level 4", Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday, September 6.

Luhut explained that currently the Java-Bali regencies/cities that are at Level 4 are 11 regions with previously 254 regencies/cities. Then, more and more districts/cities have dropped to level 2.

Then, DI Yogyakarta experienced a decrease in the level of assessment from level 4 to level 3. However, Bali Province was still included in level 4.

"Bali needs one more week from four to three because maintenance is still high. I've told the governor to deal with this a lot", said Luhut.

It was known earlier, last week that COVID-19 cases had decreased by 94 percent from the peak of cases last July 15. In the implementation of the Java-Bali PPKM for the period 1 to 6 September, the number of cities/districts that entered level 2 increased from 10 to 27, level 3 from 67 to 76, and level 4 decreased from 51 to 25 districts/cities.

Several regencies/cities outside Java-Bali also experienced a decline in the PPKM level assessment. Over the past week, the implementation of PPKM Level 4, which was previously in 104 regencies/cities, has now become 85 regencies/cities. Then, PPKM Level 3 from 234 regencies/cities decreased to 232 regencies/cities.

Meanwhile, regions that have implemented PPKM Level 2 have increased from 48 urban districts to 68 districts. Then, PPKM Level 1 increased from no district/city to 1 district/city.
