KPK Examines Aide Lili Pintauli Siregar Regarding Allegations Of Bribery In The Sale And Purchase Of Positions In Tanjungbalai

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned the aide to the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar, Oktavia Dita Sari. This investigation was carried out in connection with the alleged bribery sale that ensnared the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor, M Syahrial.

Oktavia was examined as a witness to complete the file of suspect Yusmada, who is the Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai City.

"The investigative team has scheduled the summons of witnesses for suspect YM et al, Oktavia Dita Sari, who is an aide to the KPK leadership", KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs, Ali Fikri told reporters, Monday, September 6.

For information, Lili Pintauli was proven to have communicated with the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial. This is evident from the decision of the KPK Supervisory Board which stated that Lili was proven to have violated ethics and was severely punished in the form of cutting her basic salary by 40 percent for 12 months.

In the decision of the ethics trial, Lili was said to have communicated with Syahrial, who at that time was still a suspect by stating that the file for the alleged bribery she had committed was on the table. In addition, she also had time to ask Syahrial to contact a lawyer in Medan named Fahri Aceh to help her.

Previously, in the case of the alleged sale and purchase of positions at the Tanjungbalai City Government, the KPK had determined M Syahrial and Yusmada.

KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto said his party had examined 47 witnesses in this case and confiscated IDR 100 million as evidence.

This incident, he said, began in June 2019, as the Mayor of Tanjungbalai MSA issued a warrant related to the open selection of high-ranking Primary Leaders, the Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai City.

"In the warrant, YM, who was then Head of the Tanjungbalai City Public Housing and Settlement Area, was included as one of the applicants for the selection", Karyoto said on Friday, August 27.

Furthermore, after YM, he said, followed several stages of selection, in July 2019 at the Office of the Public Housing and Settlement Areas of Tanjungbalai City. There YM met Sajali Lubis who is a friend and confidant of MSA.

During the meeting, YM allegedly told Sajali Lubis to give MSA IDR 200 million and immediately followed up by Sajali Lubis by calling MSA and then immediately agreed and approved by MSA.

In September 2019, YM passed and was elected as the Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai City based on the Tanjungbalai Mayor's Decree signed by MSA.

"On the election of YM as the Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai City, Sajali Lubis on MSA's orders returned to YM to collect and ask for IDR 200 million and YM immediately prepared the requested money by making a cash withdrawal of IDR 200 million at one of the banks in Tanjungbalai Asahan and after that immediately handed over to Sajali Lubis to be forwarded to MSA", said Karyoto.
