Present Since Morning, Aziz Yanuar Claims To Be Banned From Entering Rizieq Shihab's Appeal Court Room

JAKARTA - Rizieq Shihab's lawyer, Aziz Yanuar said the reason for not attending the appeal hearing in the case of the UMMI Hospital swab test was because he was not allowed to enter the courtroom. In fact, it has been waiting for and presents since the morning.

"Our team came but there was a lot of police in the (trial room) and we were not allowed to enter", Aziz told VOI, Monday, August 30.

However, Aziz did not elaborate when asked which party prohibited him from entering the courtroom. Aziz only said the ban was carried out right in front of the courtroom.

"We at PTSP are stuck, we want to enter the room but we can't", said Aziz.

Therefore, Aziz plans to complain about the obstruction. But for now, he and his team are more focused on other legal steps regarding the DKI High Court decision regarding the case of the UMMI Hospital swab test result.

"Yes, we will process it later", said Aziz.

Public Relations of the DKI Jakarta High Court, Binsar Pamopo Pakpahan previously stated that the Public Prosecutor and attorneys from Rizieq Shihab and Hanif Alatas were not present at the trial of the appeal decision of the UMMI Hospital swab case. In fact, they previously stated that they would attend.

"(The attorney) was not present (at the trial", said Binsar.

Based on the information received, said Binsar, Rizieq's legal team will participate in the trial. However, until the time the trial will begin, the defendant's attorneys are not present in the courtroom.

In fact, the panel of judges had given time to wait for the legal team. However, they still didn't come.

"We received a notification that they planned to attend but until the trial schedule was held, the assembly was waiting until no one was present. So the trial was completed without the presence of the public prosecutor or attorney", Binsar said.
