A Man Throws Himself Into The BKT River To Escape A Convoy He Thinks Is A Motorcycle Gang

JAKARTA - A man with the initials S (20) went missing after being plunged into the East Flood Canal (BKT) River, in front of Season City Mall, West Jakarta. He threw himself to save himself during a brawl around the location on Sunday, August 29, at dawn, at around 04.30 WIB.

When confirmed, Tambora Police Chief Kompol M Faruk Rozi denied any brawls in the area. He ensured that there was no brawl in the Besi Bridge area, Tambora District, West Jakarta which resulted in a resident being thrown into the big river.

The reason continued the Police Chief, his party had checked the crime scene for the disappearance of the man with the initials S (20) at that location. However, no evidence points to an indication of a brawl. From the examination of several witnesses at the crime scene, information was obtained that S was looking to deposit money with his parents in Cianjur, West Java.

S is a convection worker, an immigrant from West Java. S wanted to leave the money to a minibus driver he knew around the scene.

"So there was a convoy, now this man was scared to finally kill him", said Tambora Police Chief Kompol Faruk Rozi to VOI, Sunday, August 29.

"He came to the coffee shop with two of his friends. From the witness testimony from the coffee shop keeper, from a distance suddenly a group of people riding motorbikes appeared", he continued in confirmation to reporters.

"The person concerned thought it was a motorcycle gang, even though it was not just an ordinary convoy. In fact, the motorcycle was on the other side and no one was leading or approaching the person concerned", said Faruk.

But at that time the victim and his two friends suspected a group of people who were carrying the motorbike was a motorcycle gang. Panicked, the victim and his two friends fled from the coffee shop.

The two friends of the victim ran for safety. Meanwhile, the victim chose to throw himself into the BKT River.

"So the victim afraid saw a group of people riding motorbikes. Because in their area of origin if it happened it was the same as a motorcycle gang, even though it wasn't", he said.

After the group of motorcyclists left, the witness who owned the coffee shop saw the victim pulled over to the side of the river. The victim tried to swim to the edge of the BKT River. But unfortunately, the victim did not come back to the surface when he tried to swim to the edge of the river.

"So actually the victim can swim. I thought the victim's friend had returned but in fact, he hasn't", said the police chief.

Currently, the whereabouts of S who jumped to BKB have not been found. Although from the testimony of several witnesses said that S was seen leaving the BKT and saving himself.

"The SAR team has been looking for it since this morning but they haven't found it yet. But some witnesses say that the person concerned has left there (BKT)", said Faruk.
