PAN Joins Coalition, PKB: It's Too Early To Talk About Reshuffle In Jokowi's Cabinet

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKB Executive Board, Jazilul Fawaid, assesses that the cabinet reshuffle will not be carried out even though PAN has officially joined the coalition supporting the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin government.

"It's too early, not necessarily. We'll just have to wait and see what will be taken or follow-up from yesterday's meeting", said Jazilul, Friday, August 27.

According to him, it is too early to talk about a cabinet reshuffle if it is only based on a meeting of the elite coalition parties some time ago.

"In my opinion, the meeting is more of a meeting that has not been held by coalition political parties for a long time, it's our turn to meet, we have a new friend (PAN)", said Jazilul, who is familiarly called Gus Jazil.

The Deputy Chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly emphasized that the granting of cabinet seats is the president's prerogative. Moreover, he said, it is not good in the midst of this pandemic for political parties to discuss the issue of allocations in the cabinet.

"Without having to meet, for PKB, if the president wants to replace or add (ministers) please, that's the president's prerogative. That's what PKB has always respected which is the president's prerogative", he said.
