COVID-19 Update As Of August 26: 16,899 New Cases, Accumulated 4,043,736 Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 205,774 specimens were examined with the result that there were 16,899 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 4,043,934 people and active cases are 243,588", according to data from the Ministry of Health, Thursday, August 26.

Today's recovered cases increased by 30,099 cases, bringing the total to 3,669,966 recovered people. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 889 people and the total was 130,182 people.

The province with the newest cases was in West Java with 5,058 cases and a total of 686,362 cases. Followed by East Java which has 1,354 new cases with a total of 378,135 cases. North Sumatra has 975 new cases and a total of 92,712 cases. Then, Central Java has 811 new cases and a total of 465,843 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to West Java with an additional 10,498 recovered cases. Followed by East Java with an increase of 2,647 recovered cases, North Sumatra with an increase of 1,470 recovered cases, and DI Yogyakarta with an increase of 1,383 recovered cases.

No province has reported any new cases as of today. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 31,325,458.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 17.30 percent", he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was recorded at 255,969 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 59,426,934 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 33,357,249 people have received the second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
