PANGKALPINANG - Sad news from the Bangka Belitung Islands which recorded 22 people died due to COVID-19. This brings the total number of deaths due to the coronavirus in the area to 1.154.

"Most of the COVID-19 patients who died were sufferers of heart, diabetes, lung, and other diseases", said Secretary of the Babel Islands Province COVID-19 Handling Task Force Mikron Antariksa in Pangkalpinang, as reported by Antara, Thursday, August 26.

He explained that based on the latest data, as many as 22 COVID-19 patients died spread across six people in Belitung, four in Bangka, four in South Bangka (Basel), two in West Bangka (Barbar), and four in Pangkalpinang City.

Meanwhile, new cases of COVID-19 increased by 388 people with a cumulative 45.428 people spread across Bangka 64, Pangkalpinang 145, Central Bangka (Bateng) 63, Basel 23, Babar 30, Belitung 21 and Beltim 42 people.

Patients recovered from COVID-19 increased by 408 with a cumulative 39.714 people spread across Pangkalpinang 149, Bangka 50, Bateng 58, Basel 45, Babar 23, Belitung 21 and Beltim 62 patients.

"In suppressing daily cases and deaths due to COVID-19, local governments increase the capacity of COVID-19 hospital services, logistics, and human resources for handling COVID-19 in each district/city", he said.

According to him, in suppressing this death case, his party also ensures the availability of oxygen by lowering the Oxygen Task Force, accelerating the distribution of free drugs and supplements for positive patients, increasing tracing and testing capacity by lowering the Tracing and Tracking Task Force.

"There is a need for the participation of the entire community to protect themselves, their families, and the surrounding environment by strengthening and tightening the application of health protocols and carrying out massive vaccinations by lowering the Vaccine Task Force", he said.
